Topshop- in my opinion at least

Everyone has to own at least one item from Topshop, whether it be the t-shirt  you bought for 50p from your younger brothers’ school fair, or that one dress that you have worn  again and again because it seems to be the only item that you look decent in these days. And to those of you, living in London who fail to own a single item of Topshop clothing, shame on you.

Yes, I know if all you do is shop at Topshop, your closet is guaranteed to be the same as thousands of other girls, and nowadays it is pretty impossible not to spot at least 14 other people wearing the same item of clothing that you own or are wearing. Whether they look awful in it or not (preferably awful though) it makes no difference.  It was your item that you bought and handpicked yourself; that great sense of joy you had when you tried it on; knew exactly what you had at home that would look perfect with it. You were also especially excited when you thought of all the “compliments” that you might receive (wishful thinking most of the time).  It could be one of those items that you would keep in the bag by your bed and try it on all the time, just to see how good it looked.  And in my case, it would be that exact same item that I would see someone else wearing on the one day I chose to wear it. Seeing someone else wearing your clothes, is like a slap round the face. Then you vow never to shop at Topshop again, until you somehow miraculously end up there the following morning.  On one of the numerous occasions that this has happened to me, I was walking down the street, and so was the person wearing the same dress, there was a slight pause, an awkward confrontation, nothing was said, I was going to say “nice dress” but was too scared to get a punch in the face in return.     Worse case scenario……… bumping into your friend’s mother wearing the same mini-dress as you.  What is it with all these women of a certain face, but still with good legs??

All in all, I am unashamedly a Topshop lover.  Lets face it, the clothes are great, and so are the prices.  Just a word of advice to those new to the Topshop fantasy: stay clear of ALL body con skirts and most crop tops, unless you want to be wearing a uniform with the rest of the world.
